Mechanism

How it works.

Sequence-specific DNA binding; modulates gene expression in cellular-aging pathways. Reported telomerase activation in cell culture.

Research

What the research shows.

Russian-published research suggests cellular-aging marker effects and modest lifespan extension in animal models. Independent replication is limited.

Epitalon is a four-amino-acid peptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) developed by Vladimir Khavinson at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. The compound was synthesised based on extracts of the bovine pineal gland.

The proposed mechanism involves DNA-sequence-specific binding that influences gene expression, with secondary effects on telomerase activity. The evidence base is real but narrower than what supports compounds like NAD precursors. Most research has come from one institutional ecosystem with fewer independent replications than the field would normally expect.

Contraindications

When not to use.

Active malignancy (theoretical telomerase concern). Pregnancy. Pediatric use without clinical oversight.
